The Real Barenziah, Volume I

The Real Barenziah is an unauthorized biography of the famous Queen Mother of Morrowind. It is collected in a series of volumes, written by an unknown author. This first volume begins on the day of Barenziah’s birth, told from the perspective of a dark elf called Symmachus. It then moves on to a chronicling of the early years of Barenziah’s life.

Volume 1 can be found by the dragonborn in:

Drelas’ Cottage, upstairs on a shelf
Lost Knife Hideout, on a bookshelf just before the cages

The Adabal-a

Adabal-a

The Adabal-a was written by Morihaus, a winged man-bull who was an early cultural hero of the Cyro-Nordics. The book is considered to be the memoirs of Morihaus, consort to Alessia and Taker of the Citadel.

Found in the following locations:

Thalmor Embassy, Elenwen’s Solar, on a bookshelf north on the middle floor.

The Katariah, on a bookshelf in the emperor’s quarters.

Players who own the Dawnguard DLC can also find it in Volkihar Keep, on a bookshelf in Harkon’s quarters.

Nightingales, Volume I

The Nightingales, Volume I, Who We Are, was written by Gallus Desidensius, Nightingale and former Guildmaster of the Thieves Guild in Riften. He was a scholar, master thief and natural leader.

This book can be found in Nightingale Hall, on an end table next to a bed.

Flight from the Thalmor

Flight of the Thalmor

 Flight from the Thalmor is the widely circulated epitaph of the Nordic skald Hadrik Oaken-heart. It is an example of the Nords enduring belief in Talos, despite being persecuted for it at the hands of the Thalmor.

This book can be found in one of two places.

Dengeir’s House, on the cupboard next to the front door.

Sky Haven Temple, on a book shelf to the right of the entrance chamber, near an illuminated table.

Wabbajack

Wabbajack cover

Wabbajack (author unknown) is the story of one man’s summoning of Sheogorath and his ensuing descent into madness. One suspects the journal was penned well after the fact.

It can be found in:

The College of Winterhold, Arcanaeum, on a ledge.

Lost Knife Hideout, on a bookshelf just before the cages.

The Buying Game

The_Buying_Game

The Buying Game was written by Ababael Timsar-Dadisun. It is a most informative book, and upon reading it the Dragonborn will find themselves more skilled in the fine art of Speech.

It can be found in a number of places across Skyrim.

Ambushed Khajiit Caravan, in one of the trailers.

The Bard’s College in Solitude. On the top floor, in a teaching area of sorts, on the left set of shelves at the back of the room. It is on the top shelf of the one closest to the wall.

Dead Men’s Respite on a rock next to a candle light and behind a trap.

Inside the East Empire Company Warehouse. Up the first ramp, across over to the next set of shelves. It is on top of a crate.

Shrine to Peryite on a bench a few feet from the shrine.

This tome is properly entitled Ancient Tales of the Dwemer, Part XI: Azura and the Box. It was written by Marobar Sul, and is the eleventh book in a series of fictional stories about the Dwemer.

It can be found at the College of Winterhold, in the Hall of Attainment, on a table.

Twin Secrets is written by Brarilu Theran. It is the tale of one enchanter’s discovery of how to overcome the Law of Firsts, and his demise from this perilous experiment.

It can be found by the Dragonborn in a variety of locations in the game.

Calcelmo’s Laboratory (Markarth)

Jarl’s Longhouse (Winterhold), in a basket in the southwest corner of the Jarl’s bedroom.

Serpent’s Bluff Ruins (Whiterun Hold) on the arcane Enchanter at the end of the dungeon.

Shrine of Stendarr, South of Swindler’s Den.

Treva’s Watch (The Rift) in the bandit chief’s room.

The Madness of Pelagius

The_madness_of_pelagius_open

The Madness of Pelagius is a short biography of one of Tamriel’s most well known Emperor’s, written by Tsathenes. As you will intuit from the title, it is largely a comment his descent into madness, rather than a history of his life and important acts.

The tome can be found by the Dragonborn in Dragonsreach Jarl’s Quarters, on a shelf in Proventus Avenicci’s room. Players with the Dawnguard DLC can also find it in Volkihar Keep, on a wall shelf in the upstairs section of Harkon’s quarters.
