Response to Bero

Response to Bero’s Speech

Malviser, Battlemage

This tome is a pointed and often scathing reply by Malviser to a rather ill informed and dismissive speech made by the illusionist Berevar Bero on the 14th of Last Seed. Many readers may enjoy it simply for its intellectual value, and perhaps the window it offers into the competition between the magical schools. However, the more magically inclined Dragonborn will find its commentary on the school of Destruction most enlightening.

The book can be acquired in a variety of ways throughout Skyrim.

Rewarded by Urag gro-Shub in The Arcanaeum after completion of the Hitting the Books quest.

Found at Haemar’s Cavern, on the desk of one of the Vampires.

Inside Iron Breaker Mine in the south-east corner of Dawnstar. Follow the tunnel to the first bedroll you come to. The book is on the barrel to the left as approaching from the entrance.

Thaumaturgist’s Hut, Morthal, in the basement. It is hidden on the very top of a shelf next to a Troll Skull.

Found at Witchmist Grove, under the bed in the witch’s house.

Confessions of a Khajiit Fur Trader

Confessions of a Khajiit

Written by an anonymous prisoner, this missive is something of an autobiography. It tells the tale of how this Khajiit discovered, and then rose to prominence within, the illegal fur and hide trade in Tamriel.

This book is added into the game by the Dawnguard DLC.

It can be found in Dead Drop Falls, on a table in the last room before the Dead Drop Mine zone.

The Betrayed

The Betrayed

The Betrayed

Translated from the Falmer text by Calcelmo of Markarth

Originally titled Unknown Text Vol. 1

Written by Engwe Emeloth

This is one of the unique Ancient Falmer Tomes found in the Forgotten Vale.

The content of this book is written in the ancient Falmer Language. However a translated copy, called The Betrayed, can be obtained if it’s sold to Urag gro-Shub in the College of Winterhold.

The poem relates to the Snow Elves’ slow regression into the twisted Falmer. The title relates to what surviving Snow Elves call the modern Falmer.

This tome can be found by the Dragonborn in the Forgotten Vale. From the Wayshrine of Learning, go straight along the river past the arch seen and between the two broken pillars afterwards. Directly after going through the two pillars, a very tall pillar is visible behind some rocks. Next to this tall pillar there should be a chest, a skeleton, and Unknown Book, Vol. I next to the tallest pillar.

This book is also part of the quest Ancient Falmer Tomes.

Love Poem

Love Poem:

A missive from Calcelmo to Faleen

Calcelmo was love struck by Faleen from the first. However, he was somewhat lacking in courage and élan when it came to matters of the heart. In an effort to aid Calcelmo, Yngvar the Bard has ghost written this poem on Calcelmo’s behalf.

This book is found as part of the Book of Love quest, acquired from Yngvar the Bard by the Dragonborn, then delivered to Faleen.

Alduin is Real

Alduin is real

Written by Thromgar Iron-Head, this book is one man’s attempt to dispel the belief that the dragons Alduin and Akatosh are one and the same. While his enthusiasm can not be denied, he is seemingly uneducated, if his spelling is any guide. We leave it to the Dragonborn to decide if Thromgar has the right of things.
